Chugwater Chili A One of a Kind Experience
For fans of chili in the country today, the place was in Chugwater, Wyoming.
Not even bad weather could keep the crowds today, far from chili Cookoff.
Chugwater can be one of the smallest towns in Wyoming, but for one day each year, he became the epicenter, attracting some of the most important people in the state of cowboy.
"Chugwater is one of the smaller cities, we in Wyoming and is a great event and as we have a busy schedule this is a very fun thing for our family to be here," said Governor Matt Mead.
The pepper is not only to attract Wyomingite, but also those states near and far.
"It's actually pretty amazing. There are many people here and a great form of travel of people all over the place in Texas and Nebraska, "Trina said Campbell.
Chili Cookoff veterans say there is something unique Chugwater they do not see everywhere they go.
"The cooks of the day before and the morning of, they are all so nice and helpful. If you forget something you just ask your neighbor.Hey, I can help you with this and then the people who come to taste the chili, that keeps us coming back for more, "Traci Collins.
Although each pepper was different they all agreed on what makes a good chili.
"Really what it comes down is the heart and soul you put into it. If you do a good heart so I think it's going to taste good anyway you do it," Campbell said.
"I think it's time, care and love you put in makes it a good chili," says Collins.
With all food competition, the judges have different things they love.
"He must have some spice, some good meat in it. I like a stronger flavor, like a saltier flavor, "John Wendling said.
Because most of the Chugwater chili is so good, he judges a difficult job.
"It was interesting because each pepper had its own unique flavor and I found it difficult to distinguish in the sense that I loved them all. I had a couple of favorites, but all were very good, "said Mead.
